This file describes Note, what it does and how to pay for it. If you want to learn how to use Note please read the file ‘Note -- Directions’ that was installed with Note. You really should read the Setting Up section of the Directions file to get Note working.
Note is a Macintosh AppleTalk network application that allows users of an AppleTalk network to chat and send instant messages all from the same application with minimal setup. Note is also a secure system.
Basically Note provides:
• The ability to chat with groups of people on your AppleTalk network.
• The ability to send instant messages to any other user of Note on your AppleTalk network.
• All this without a centralised server, and using the security built into the Macintosh System.
To run Note you will require a Macintosh computer with System 7.0 or later connected to an AppleTalk network. Note will run without an AppleTalk network, but there isn't a lot you can do with it.
Note is a shareware program. You can pay for Note in the following structure:
• 1 to 10 copies cost $US25.00 each.
• Over 10 copies cost $US20.00 each.
• A site license costs $US500.00. That allows you to use Note at every location of your organisation within a 160km (100 miles) radius or your site. A big advantage with this is that you don't have to worry about how many users you have at your site.
• A world-wide license costs $US2000.00. This allows you to use Note anywhere on the Planet Earth.
Note is not crippled in anyway, you can keep using it for as long as you like without paying. But... if you want to see a struggling shareware author get ahead you'd pay for it if you discover you are still using it after 30 days. After 30 days the Note demo will expire, you will be unable to use NOte until you register.
All payments for Note are handled by Kagi. To make your payment start the Register program that was installed with Note, select the quantity from the middle, then select your payment method from the bottom left and finally print or save the order form by clicking the appropriate button in the lower-right.

Please feel free to distribute the Note Installer to whoever you wish. But, you should give away the installer, and not the individual files. Also, this Read Me must always remain with Note, in an unaltered form.
Note is fully supported. I'm going to keep working on it as long as users keep using and paying for it. I have many plans to improve Note. Of course none of these upgrades will occur if Note isn't supported by the users. So, if you want to see Note improved please register.
